At the end of a winding road, a 15-minute walk from the Joating a beach, is this confidential boutique hotel where celebrities come to get away from it all. This is the second address, after the House by Dussol (Jardim Botânico), of François-Xavier Dussol, a French pioneer of boutique hotels in Rio.
Behind the red door of this 1960s villa, a huge terrace sets the tone: the ocean spreads out before your eyes and, in the distance, the statue of Christ the Redeemer towers above the Rocinha favela. The hotel offers seven suites with flamboyant decorations, in Baroque and Pop Art themes, alternating yellow, pink, and white monochrome tones... or you could try the all-glass ‘Black Suite'.
There are chandeliers everywhere, as well as kitsch Brazilian knickknacks and collectibles, and fabulous views. This endearing family home has an infinity pool lined up with the sea and a heliport on the roof, where you can also have dinner.
