Founded in 2000 by the Cuban perfumer Yanelda Mendosa, this little shop in an 18th-century house in Old Havana has become an absolute must for lovers of beautiful scents. Trained in the French perfume capital of Grasse, Mendosa's creations are inspired by the olfactory ambience of colonial Cuba: colognes, lavender, violet, tobacco, coffee, and leather.
La Habana 1791 makes 20 perfumes from flowers grown on the island, decanted in sublime bottles created by the virtuosos of the ACAA (Cuban Association of Craftsmen Artists).
Her star perfume, Habanera, is very sensual and feminine. She creates custom perfumes to match your tastes and personality, and her shop sells jewellery by the Congregation of San Eloy Goldsmiths.
