Chinese New Year in Beijing

In 2018 Beijing, the New Year does not happen on January 1st but February 16th! As always, expect a spectacular show.

A few days after the New Year in the rest of the world, Asia will celebrate the Year of the Dog on February 16th, according to the lunar calendar. There is nothing quite like the Chinese New Year in Beijing! When midnight strikes, the sky lights up over the metropolis with unrivalled firework artistry. With floats and inhabitants donning traditional outfits, festivities go on all week long near the city's temples as most locals take some days off at that time of year. Two weeks later, the Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao in Chinese) marks the end of celebrations.
