5 wonders to be seen before it's too late!

Dune climbing in Cap Ferret

About 50 kilometres from Bordeaux between the Landes forest and the Atlantic Ocean, the Cap Ferret headland will both seduce and stun you with ever changing landscapes. The marine transgression geologic event – during which sea levels rise – and erosion undeniably show that nature reasserts itself on this Aquitaine piece of land. It is therefore no accident if a genuine and wild atmosphere reigns.
Get a first taste by walking through the pine forest and stride along sandy walkways in the preserved “44-hectare area”. Facing Cap Ferret, you'll feel very small when climbing the Dune of Pilat. Do not miss the various houses on stilts around the Île-aux-Oiseaux, quite typical of the area and initially used to watch oyster farms. Enjoy a different mood and visit nearby villages like Le Canon and L'Herbe. There, you'll be able taste delicious oysters by the water.

Fall for Venice, la Serenissima

Renowned for its canals and its carnival, Venice – a city of love and romance – could very well disappear under the flood before the next century if nothing is done to prevent global warming. Thankfully, the city of Doges is still standing… and livelier than ever! For a romantic getaway with your better half, or simply for a pleasant stroll among friends, reserve a gondola and discover some of the well-hidden Venetian alleyways.
For an afternoon, drift along the Grand Canal and wander through the famous Rialto market. Do not miss the discreet yet still canonical Bridge of Sighs that used to connect the various Doges palaces. If you suddenly feel like a change of scenery, do not hesitate and plan your visit in January or February: at this time of year, the most extravagant costumes will take on St. Mark's Square during the illustrious carnival! And before moving on to new adventures, remember you'll have to try that gelato

When San Francisco heats up…

The nearness of the City by the Bay to the San Andreas Fault makes it a metropolis with a high risk of seismic activity. According to scientists, the fault is growing by three to five centimetres each year. But don't let that get you down, because beautiful ‘Frisco' still has many years ahead! With the stunning Golden Gate as a guardian, the city can still confront the future with audacity.
To discover the historical heritage of San Francisco, join a boat excursion to visit the famous Alcatraz prison, and stroll around Pier 39 before or after your trip. Make sure you take pictures of the seals that do their best to pose for onlookers! Later, walk up the sinuous Lombard Street that is so hard to drive down, before visiting the rest of the town in a cable car. Take note of the famous “Blue House” celebrated in the 1970s by a French singer, Maxime Le Forestier, in the song San Francisco. Indeed, the house really exists and you can see it yourself on 18th Street in the Castro District.

Bathe in the salt waters of the Dead Sea

Ten times saltier than any ocean, the Dead Sea is a preferred spot for travellers seeking unexpected sensations. Thanks to its high salinity, no marine species can survive here and the water will start to vanish within a few years. Located between Israel, Jordan and Palestine, the lake is expected to become drier and drier and in the not-so-distant future will completely disappear. The time is now to go for a swim in this exceptional landscape!
Less than two hours from Amman, you'll live an incredible experience floating on the surface of the sea with no effort at all. You may even have a hard time pushing your shoulders under as the sea is so incredibly buoyant. The water, rich in minerals, will provide body and soul with many benefits, as the virtues of hydrotherapy are universally recognised. And for a skin that is soft as silk, a little jump into the mud baths of the Dead Sea is a must!

Amsterdam, the Dutch pearl

Rising ocean levels, that natural phenomenon enhanced by global warming, threaten the Netherlands because a quarter of the country is below sea level. But the calm and serenity of Amsterdam will soon let you forget the danger that lies in wait. During your walks on foot, or outings on ever present bicycles, the city will slowly reveal itself to you in all its splendour.
Taste the picturesque atmosphere of the capital by walking through its 9 quaint streets (9 Straatjes) built in the 17th century. Lose yourself in the maze of countless canals and admire the architecture of the Dutch Golden Age with its narrow buildings and richly decorated gabled facades. Take a break at the internationally renowned Bloemenmarkt, the flower market that lies on the canals, and discover the treasures of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. This “Venice of the North” has much to offer!
